New Years Day Crankup

Internal Fire

Another chilly event in West Wales

Super Engineer Rhodri - faster than a speeding bullet

We started prepping on the Thursday afternoon, filling tanks etc as Aberporth Met office had said it would be 1 degree over night. By 9 pm on New Years Eve it was minus 3 and dropping like a stone so mad panic and drain again!

On NYD we managed to sort out the HD3 Crossley, Tangye MLD twin, baby Tangye and a few others so there was plenty running.

The Proteus ran well on a number of occasions including a fuel guzzling 2 minute run. We also ran the ULA5 Mirrlees briefly but she still needs water and an exhaust system.

On display outside was the new Tangye gas engine and three throw pump from Milton Keynes. We put them together for the first time and it is a nice little set, looking forward to the installation later this month.

Around a hundred people braved the sub-zero temperatures so thanks to them and to the usual band of helpers. Thanks also to John and Netty who camped out New Years Eve and helped in the shop and the museum. John was at one time engineer for the Ruston 6VCB from Three Valleys Water and had visited in October not realising she was here!
